I told my wife yesterday that I needed to quit poker. And it wasn't because I'm doing so bad. Its the exact opposite. I'm winning. A lot (for me). I'm up $758 through November 12 (which, if I played no more poker this month, would be the 4th best month I've had in the 32 months I've been recording my results). I'm up over $800 in just the last 4 days!
I'd like to attribute this to my crazy awesome skillz. While at least some of it has to involve some ability, I've been on a crazy sick run of cards lately. You know how you tend to remember your bad beats and not the times you've sucked out one someone else? Well, I've been getting so lucky in some situations that that is all that I remember.
For example, I've had AA suckout on 2 pair on a HUGE pot. I've pushed/called with an underset and quaded on river. I've hit so many sets its unbelievable. I'm not a lucky person by nature so I fully expect the downswing to come. Of course, with my incredibly nitty PF style, I should be able to keep the downswings to a minimum - provided that I don't turn into a calling station post-flop and remember that at the levels I play, when I get played back at I am more than likely facing a good hand vs. a bluff.
November results so far
Hands Played: 23,139
Results: $750.90
Approximate rakeback: $270

October Results; Failed 6-max experiment
I ended up $706 for the month plus rake back for a total of $871. After about the first week in October I started reading the full ring threads on the 2plus2 forums. I decided that I wanted to give it a try. It worked out well as I was up $933 over 30,000 hands at 50NL FR. I'm now pretty sure that my nitty style just does not work well at 6-max. I doubt I'll do much 6-max in the future and I'm going to stick with full ring for awhile. Spending time at 6-max did help me to become more aggressive from late position and I feel a lot more comfortable opening up my starting hand requirements from LP and then raising vs. limping.

10/11/07 - Test blog
This is the first entry into by blog. I'm just testing to see how this works. Later, I will give my background and history of my travels of being an "ok" poker player. By "ok", I mean that I am pretty much a break-even player over the last 2 years of playing micro-stakes poker.
